its wack how music stores can't stay open nowadays.
are all record stores as we know 'em going to go out of business? in the future, will we be saying "remember when you had to go to a store to buy music"? i hope not.
we've already lost a big part of the hip hop culture by the evolution of digital music. it looks like it doesn't discriminate either, all music is threatened. music continues to suffer.
here's the letter i got:
VIRGIN MEGASTORES The Ontario, Phoenix, Dallas and Anaheim stores will all be closing as their leases expire in early January.
These stores have been underperforming for a considerable amount of time and
although it is never a good thing to close stores it has to be pointed out
that these locations represent only 10% of our sales and even less of our
profits.
There are no plans at this time to close any more stores in the immediate
future, and we are in the early stages of working on a new store concept
that is being presented to our owners which eventually could result in store
openings.
Please let me know if you have any questions
